If your dog is approaching their 2 year birthday and you are interested in breeding your dog, whether it be with Chambray's puppy placement program or Stud dog program, or on your own here is what you should be getting ready for.
Here is the recommended Health Clearances for the Labrador Retriever as listed by the LABRADOR RETRIEVER CLUB OF AMERICA.
Hip Dysplasia
OFA Evaluation

Eye Examination by a boarded ACVO Ophthalmologist

EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse)
EXERCISE INDUCED COLLAPSE – DNA based test from an approved lab (This has been added as a CHIC requirement per the LRC as of 6/15/13)
D Locus (Dilute) DNA Test
DNA based D LOCUS results from an approved lab – *NOTE – This has been added as a CHIC requirement per the LRC as of 11/1/16)
Centronuclear Myopathy (Optional)
DNA Based CNM Test – results registered with the OFA
Cardiac Evaluation (Optional)
Advanced Cardiac Exam
Cardiac exams are not required, but are recommended as follows: Females – congenital or advanced cardiac database exam. Males – for males being used at stud, recommend advanced cardiac including an echo.
Prcd-PRA DNA Test (Optional)
DNA based prcd-PRA test from a licensed lab (currently Optigen or PawPrints) – results registered with the OFA
*Note – In addition to the breed specific requirements above, a CHIC requirement across all participating breeds is that the dog must be permanently identified via microchip or tattoo in order to qualify for a CHIC number.
OFA HIPS AND ELBOW - X-rays
Done at/after 2 years old
** For females: Can't be in season or coming in season - can affect xrays
Done at a veterinary office that is well versed in OFA ( Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) Positioning. When contacting your local vet office, ask them first if they are familiar with OFA hips and elbows imaging. Not all vets know the proper positioning and how to submit the xrays to OFA for grading.
(Most Florida dog shows have Blue Ridge Veterinary Imaging as a vendor - so our show dogs can have them done while at a show with Jessi. )
Usually can take 3 weeks to a month to receive the results.
Embark dog DNA test kits
DNA swab to test for over 250+ genetic conditions.
Can be done at any age.
Embark will test for EIC, PRA, CM , and D locus as recommended above.

Cardiac Evaluation and Eye Exam

If a local vet is to complete these make sure you are making appointments with a a boarded ACVO Ophthalmologist and a cardiologist.
